I think we should be told if http://www.pledgie.com/campaigns/836 is still relevant!
I have left it in my sidebar for now, and have seen Alex comment on the blog so know he is still out there somewhere, but I have no idea why Chyrp! died nor if pledges would have helped. I did donate in past and may do so again, so let's get this right especially if it is going to prevent the repeated death of Chyrp!

The donation link has been updated a while back.
This http://pledgie.com/campaigns/14388 is the new one.
Reasons why Chyrp had died I am confident were made public by a blog post.
Here's a preserved copy of what Alex had posted
http://pascaln.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/chyrp-is-dead.txt
And this is where Alex announces Chyrp's comeback http://chyrp.net/2010/12/20/hello-world/
And just so you and everybody else know Chyrp is not going to die again.
And the first death, I wouldn't call it a death, more like a pause, withdrawal you name it.

You will know when I have updated my sidebar, because I shall test it by making a donation! ;) :) If only it was built into the default Chyrp sidebar for every theme! But perhaps that is something a little against the design principles of Open Source etc... IF I EVER make a theme I think I will add it though, since surely that is OK? After all I am not the beneficiary.... not directly anyway,...
Another idea - add it into the templates etc generally BUT comment it out?

it is done, proud to be the first even if it is not much - it is what I can afford just now!
[edit] and it is the LARGEST for now, so we could try to encourage others to make larger - have a donations race for the "fame" of being the largest donor![/edit] We ought to realise as a community we want this site's hosting etc secure for our blog engine of choice, no?
